Objective

The freeway will facilitate the transport of goods between the coast and the country’s interior. Ultimately, it could be integrated into regional networks linking the DRC with other countries in Central and Southern Africa.

Description

The Banana-Matadi-Kinshasa highway is a planned 450 km highway in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that will connect the port of Banana with the capital, Kinshasa, via Matadi. It's part of a broader effort to improve the country's transportation infrastructure and logistics, particularly for the new deep-water port at Banana. The highway is intended to reduce transportation costs and times for goods moving between the port and the interior of the country
