Port of Guaymas Modernization Project

Objective

The Port of Guaymas is undergoing significant modernization to serve as a key Pacific gateway, positioning itself within the CANAMEX corridor to connect Sonora, Mexico, with Arizona and the US Southwest 1st Stage: Attract 100% (40,000 TEUs) of domestic land cargo originating/destined for Sonora 2nd Stage:Capture of 7.5% (154,000 TEUs) of cargo from LA/LB destined for Texas. Increase in containerized cargo volume: from 16,000 to 210,000 TEUs

Description

The Federal Government of Mexico, through the Mexican Navy (SEMAR), modernized the port’s infrastructure with 13 strategic projects including new open storage areas, dredging works, access roads, internal railway rehabilitation, highway upgrades, bulk storage warehousing, cruise terminal ugrades, new multipurpose terminal.
