Objective

This new crossing will be dedicated to cross-border freight traffic and will avoid the congested urban areas. The bypass will link with a newly envisioned special trade zone on the Myanmar side.

Description

The project include a new bypass road and bridge to the north of the existing border crossing, currently located in the congested centers of the two border cities, Mae Sot and Myawaddy. The project consists of 16.745 km in Thailand and a 760-meter- long bridge across the Moei River at the border, and associated border-crossing facilities (BCF).
