Description
Interstate 11 (I-11) is a planned, high-priority interstate project aimed at connecting Phoenix and Las Vegas, two major cities currently not connected by a direct interstate. The project aims to improve safety, enhance commerce, and reduce travel time between the cities, likely following the U.S. 93 corridor. While the Nevada portion is finished, completing the full Phoenix-to-Las Vegas link is anticipated over the next decade, with potential long-term extensions north to Reno and south to Nogales.
History
The Nevada portion of the I-11 project was completed in 2018. As of May 2025, the Arizona portion of the project was on hold as a result of a lawsuit brought by a coalition of environmental groups.
