Bishkek Free Economic Zone

Description

The Bishkek FEZ has experienced several waves of foreign investment, most notably the first one, in 1995–1996, and one in 2006–2007. At present, the FEZ has 1,300 registered residents.

History

In 2016, a significant development was the establishment of a solar module manufacturing plant by NEW-TEK LLC, a Kyrgyz-German joint venture. Located within the Bishkek FEZ, this facility boasts an annual production capacity of 50 megawatts, equating to approximately 200,000 photovoltaic solar modules​.
