This project, announced in May 2019, was intended to be APSEZ's first container terminal outside India, with a projected capacity of 800,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) upon completion.
Description
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) is set to build a container terminal in Myanmar, the group’s first box facility outside India.
History
However, due to geopolitical developments, including a military coup in Myanmar and subsequent international sanctions, APSEZ decided to exit the project. In May 2023, the company completed the sale of its Myanmar port for $30 million, significantly lower than its initial investment.
